Introduction
The ERA Documentary (working title) is an upcoming documentary film project that will explore the failures of the American mental health care system. The project is currently in pre-production.
Background & Inspiration
Nearly everyone in America today has been impacted by the failures of the American mental health care system, whether through personal experience or through the experiences of a loved one; despite growing attention to the field of mental health over the past few decades, there are still many misconceptions about mental health disorders and mental healthcare.
With this documentary project, I aim to do two things:
Examine the failures of the mental health care system by telling the stories of individuals with lived experiences in this area.
Explore hopeful movements and initiatives that could lead to improvements in the mental health care system.
By telling these stories, I also hope to contribute to the destigmatization of mental health.
